Apple recently announced the iPhone we all knew was coming - the iPhone 3G S, built for unprecedented speed and enhanced performance. Boasting a brand new built-in processor that operates up to 2 times faster than its predecessor, there’s no prize for guessing what the S stands for.

Read on to learn more about the fastest iPhone ever and details on how you can pre-order yours today!

Let’s begin with the speed then – as you probably already know it’s what the 3G S is all about!

Web browsing and launching applications is up to 2 x faster than the original 3G though Apple have yet to release the specific details for the processor used. With full support for 7.2 Mbps HSDPA connectivity allowing for faster networking and data transfer, the iPhone 3G S really does have the potential to cement it’s place as one of the internet phones on the market.

Away from the speed enhancements, one of the features that has been long overdue an upgrade is the iPhone’s 2.0 Megapixel camera. The iPhone 3G S features a 3 megapixel camera with autofocus and while this wont trouble the likes of the Samsung Tocco Ultra and LG Renoir with their 8.0 Megapixel cameras, the sample images released from Apple do look very impressive. Unfortunately a flash is again absent from the spec sheet though Apple claim the iPhone 3G S features a new and improved low light modes for low light conditions. The camera also plays host to the new ‘tap to focus’ tool that gives you the option to adjust focus and exposure by selecting objects on screen to focus on.

Apple have also finally taken note over a noticeable absentee in previous models by incorporating video recording. Capable of capturing video at 30 frames per second in VGA resolution, the iPhone 3G S also allows you to trim down your own videos before sharing them via MMS, your MobileMe gallery or YouTube publications.

The iPhone 3G S also includes new 3D graphics support which should hopefully build on the iPhone’s earlier success in mobile gaming. Voice Control also makes an appearance allowing users to make calls and select and play music. How this will accommodate the English language with its many accents remains to be seen but at the very least it’s definitely a step in the right direction.
