Magellan iPhone satnav application along with a car kit accessory

Magellan RoadMate comes at an awkward time just after announced Google Maps Navigation which brings a fancy GPS guidance to Android based phones and with rumours of an iPhone version coming soon for free. and now Magellan have launched their iPhone satnav application along with a car kit accessory for using in your car.

However, I still think that Magellan have a chance at shifting some units if priced right. A number of people have commented on how high priced the TomTom iPhone dock is. If Magellan can sell that at a decent price then they could take a good share of the market. As of yet, there is no official price for the car kit.

Magellan have included a number of features found in regular Magellan systems for the iPhone including one touch favourites, spoken street name guidance, highway lane assist, QuickSpell (that allows you to easily find cities and destinations with a large on-screen keyboard).

Magellan RoadMate other feature include 3D Landmarks that allow you to see more visually while driving around your route and address book integration with the iPhone.

Magellan RoadMate app costs $79.99 from the iTunes store and as of yet, the car dock hasn’t been priced just yet.
